Sin City Is Under Siege in Battlefield 6

From the neon-lit streets of Las Vegas to the heavily guarded grounds of Area 51, the war has spread across some of Nevada's most iconic locations. In addition to the new maps, Season 5 is going all-in on all-out warfare with the biggest updates to the combat arsenal yet, featuring 6 new weapons and 2 new vehicles, a new PVE Halloween event, and more. Now, let's take a closer look at both maps: VEGAS STRIP Vegas Strip drops players into a dense urban battlefield where casinos, hotels, and landmark attractions have become the center of the fighting. Olympus Pools Combat shifts between close-quarters fights inside the hotel, skirmishes around the pool deck, and battles across the surrounding resort grounds. Teams that control the high ground can keep an eye on key routes and pressure enemies moving between objectives. Olympus Lobby Players can enter through the valet area, push through staff entrances, or use ziplines to reach the rooftop before dropping through the collapsed dome overhead. The objective rewards teams that attack from multiple angles and make use of the space above and below them. Crater & Storm Drains Above ground, infantry and vehicles fight across exposed streets and debris fields. Beneath the surface, storm drains and tunnels create a completely different experience, with tight corridors and close-range engagements that offer a safer route through the middle of the map. AREA 51 Most people have heard of Area 51. Very few know what's supposed to be inside. Players can battle across the base above ground or push into the facility hidden beneath it. Both spaces play very differently, but they're constantly connected by the flow of the match. Crash Site Ground vehicles frequently clash around the wreckage, while nearby hangars create opportunities for infantry players to move between cover and challenge advancing armor. Helipad Built into the mountainside, its elevation provides clear sightlines toward several objectives, making it a popular location for Recon players while also giving teams anti-air options to challenge enemy aircraft. The Crater A massive impact has exposed sections of the underground facility, creating a network of tunnels, garages, abandoned laboratories, and defensive positions beneath the desert surface. Three objectives are packed into this area, which keeps infantry in constant close-quarters combat as teams fight for control of the underground. Aircraft Control Tower At the start of the match, the upper floors serve as a powerful sniper nest overlooking much of the battlefield. Leave it standing and defenders can lock down large sections of the map. Bring it down, and the fight shifts to the rubble below. Learn more about the maps and their design, plus tips and tricks from the developers, at EA.com. Coming in Season 5, Rapid Royale takes the foundation of REDSEC Battle Royale and turns up the intensity. The goal remains simple: survive to the end. Watch the trailer.

Battlefield 6/REDSEC: Looking Ahead To Season 5 And Beyond

Looking Back On One YearSeason 5 EvolutionsComing in 2027LOOKING BACK ON ONE YEAR This October Battlefield 6 turns one year old. Since then, we've worked closely with players through Battlefield Labs and live game feedback to evolve and improve the Battlefield experience. Over the last year, we've added four seasons of content, brought back fan-favorite maps like Railway to Golmud and Wake Island, and introduced Naval Warfare. We've also spent that time improving the core Battlefield experience across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, including combat. That work has included faster progression, ongoing work for balance between land, air, and naval combat, and Aim Assist tuning that more closely matches the feel of the Open Beta. As shared in our Battlefield Combat - Gunplay update, we’ve also adjusted recoil and body damage multipliers to make close-range firefights and Time-To-Kill feel more rewarding while placing greater emphasis on precision at longer ranges and refining the “Sweet Spot” range for each sniper rifle. And we’re not done yet. SEASON 5 EVOLUTIONS Season 5 marks the start of Year 2 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC. A few weeks ago, we announced the return of the Open + Elite Series, and the arrival of Rapid Royale, a new way to experience REDSEC that shortens match time and ratchets up the intensity. We'll be sharing much more about Season 5 shortly, but today we're taking an early look at some of the combat and gameplay changes we're currently exploring this season. As always, everything discussed here is subject to change. Certain features and fixes that don't meet our goals during Battlefield Labs testing may be adjusted, delayed, or removed based on player feedback. Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Changes We have several planned changes this season that apply to both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC’s core gameplay. Changes to Vehicle Health Regeneration & Damage to better reward infantry for good positioning and flanking maneuvers.Anti-Air System Changes to create a stronger interplay between Anti-Air and aircraft. Such changes include making the cannons for mobile Anti-Air more effective against aircraft and raising the skill requirement for laser designators by requiring users to more consistently track targets in order to maintain lock.Additional Gunplay Changes include an attachment tuning pass to improve gameplay diversity and a polish pass on animations for certain weapons, gadgets, and poses.Further Vehicle Balance Changes to make specific vehicles better embody their intended role on the battlefield. These include:Decreasing the Little Bird’s splash damage against infantryIncreasing the Rate of Fire for secondary turrets (and speeding up how quickly they overheat)Main Battle Tank (MBT) Munitions have been tuned to be more effective against the kinds of targets they’re intended to be used againstMissiles have received a balance pass across the board to ensure they’re effective but not overpoweredAir Vehicle Resupply Pad Cooldowns are now vehicle-class specific (example: a jet can resupply immediately after a helicopter without waiting for a shared pad timer). Battle Royale Specific Changes With the arrival of Rapid Royale and the return for the Open + Elite Series, we’re exploring a number of changes for REDSEC specifically during Season 5, including: Improved Matchmaking Ranked Bands to create more accurate skill brackets.Reconnect Features to put you back in the fight in ongoing Battle Royale matches if you crash or disconnect unexpectedly.Recommended Drop Zones (Casual BR Only) to give newcomers a guided drop zone system to guide them to recommended POIs and nearby loot that avoided immediate squad conflict.Armor Mechanics and Application Speeds have been significantly accelerated.Classes Have Received Some Tweaks for Season 5 including the removal of the Drone Specialist and Hazmat Breacher alternate training paths. Further changes include:Engineers now begin matches with a guided function on the Aim-Guided Launcher already unlocked.Support’s Supply Bag and Smoke Launcher have moved to the loot pool, with Supply Pouches and Deployable Cover replacing them.Recon’s Drone has been moved to the loot pool. The Handheld Jammer takes its place.Class Training Paths Have Been Rebalanced for Season 5, with new distinct tactical upgrades for each class.Assault:Level 1: Reduced movement speed penalty when firing while moving.Level 2: Passive health regeneration triggers 50% faster and provides a 50% improvement on healing. Revive sickness recovery time reduced by 50%. Level 3: High Explosive Launcher explosions generate 5 fused submunitions.Level 4: Class gadget resupply rate increases by 10% with each improvement. Effect resets upon death.Engineer:Level 1: Resistance to explosive damage is increased by 33%. Level 2: Armor replating is 33% faster.Level 3: Aim-Guided Launcher hits immobilize vehicles for 5s.Level 4: Class gadget resupply rate increases by 10% with each improvement. Effect resets upon death.Support:Level 1: Improved weapons control when shooting from mounted positions.Level 2: Drag downed soldiers 20% faster and revive them 2.5s quicker. Sprint 10% faster when under heavy fire.Level 3: Reviving a teammate applies an armor plate to them. Placing Deployable Cover spawns a lootable armor plate.Level 4: Class gadget resupply rate increases by 10% with each improvement. Effect resets upon death.Recon:Level 1: Inflicting damage on enemies spots them, marking their position in-world and on the minimap.Level 2: Downing an enemy spots others within a 25m radius for 5s.Level 3: Handheld Jammer can disrupt Redeploy Points and Mobile Redeploys within its radius. Enemies who activated the redeploy device are revealed.Level 4: Class gadget resupply rate increases by 10% with each improvement. Effect resets upon death.Weapon Balance Changes to increase more satisfying weapon engagement; this includes addressing the meta in REDSEC with forthcoming changes for the KTS100 Mk8, SCW-10, SVDM, SG553R, and KV9. Select weapon categories have received a slight BTK (Bullets to Kill) increase against armor. 10mm PDWs: Now take one more bullet to kill vs armor past 9 meters.9mm PDWs: Now take one more bullet to kill vs armor past 9 meters..300BLK Carbines: Now take one more bullet to kill vs armor within 31 meters.7.62x39mm PDWs: Now take one more bullet to kill vs armor within 31 meters.7.62x39mm Carbines: Now take one more bullet to kill vs armor within 31 meters.7.62x39mm ARs: Now take one more bullet to kill vs armor within 31 meters.5.56x45mm ARs: Now take an additional bullet to kill vs armor past 46m.5.56x45mm LMGs: Now take an additional bullet to kill vs armor past 46m.5.45x39mm ARs: Now take an additional bullet to kill vs armor past 46m.5.45x39mm LMGs: Now take an additional bullet to kill vs armor past 46m.7.62mm DMRs: Now take an additional bullet to kill vs armor past 21m and no longer deal improved headshot damage to downed enemies.Subclass Gadgets Integrated Into Loot Pool so you can scavenge previously class-locked gadgets and use them to your disposal. Gadgets being added to the loot pool include the Smoke Launcher, Supply Bag, Defibrillator, Breaching Dart, and Anti-Drone Gun.You can find a full breakdown of these changes in greater detail once our Update Notes go live the day before the season goes live. COMING IN 2027Season 5 is only the beginning of our second year of content and evolution. Throughout 2027, we’ll continue delivering new content for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC while refining the core systems that define the Battlefield experience.  We're already exploring several areas for future updates. That includes making vehicle gameplay even more immersive, continuing to expand our gunplay systems, and we’re reviewing all of the gadget and vehicle-related explosives to ensure the size, power, and effectiveness of those explosives are balanced with the rest of the game. As part of the gunplay evolution, we’re testing an improved firing range and performing visual and animation updates across the arsenal. We’re also evaluating the balance and power of bolt-action sniper rifles as well as the ability of players to fight back against those weapons. We'll have much more to share about all of this in the months ahead. Whether you joined us at launch last year or you've been playing since Battlefield 1942, thank you for being part of this community. Your feedback continues to shape the game every season and help us make Battlefield better together with every update. We can’t wait for you to experience Season 5 and beyond in 2027. We’ll see you on the Battlefield. – The Battlefield Team

Battlefield 6 - Anticheat Metrics - August

Hey Soldier,August and Season 4 were well on their way. With the launch of Naval Combat, new vehicles and ways to play, there come opportunities for bad-actors to try to use them for malicious purposes. In the previous July update, MIR ended at 4.76% and has stabilized to 4.64% at the start of August.Refer to our January update, where we discussed how the MIR updates to understand how and why these shifts occur in more detail.August: Results & ImpactMatch Infection Rate: The percentage of matches across the title that were negatively impacted by at least one cheater. This includes all suspected cheaters you've reported, even those we might not have enough evidence to enforce against. From the end of July, MIR started at 4.64%. This continued to steadily decline as low as 2.89% on August 25th, and then began to see an increase to 3.24% at the end of August on the 31st as of this update.Through August, EA Javelin Anti-Cheat prevented 327,756 attempts to cheat or tamper with the game before they could impact matches. We are presently still tracking a total of 110 (+6) active cheat-related programs, hardware solutions, vendors, resellers, and their associated communities, and out of these, 105 (+5) are reporting related feature failures, detection notices, downtime, or fully taking their cheats offline (95.45%). In case you missed it, we also took the fight against cheaters outside of the game, and you can read more about it in our previous blog. Keep it fair out there - see you on the Battlefield.BF_SledgeHammer

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Siege of Vegas Incoming

Hey everyone, Season 5 is almost here, bringing new places to fight, new ways to play, and plenty of updates across Battlefield. With three new maps taking us to Vegas across the whole season (including two ready for action right at launch), new weapons joining the arsenal, Rapid Royale arriving in REDSEC, more updates across gameplay and Portal, and Server Browser coming later in the season, there’s a lot heading your way.Beyond the new content, we also want to use this Community Update to give you some early context on some of the changes arriving alongside Season 5, ahead of our full reveal soon to follow. That includes updates to combat, how we're approaching matchmaking and REDSEC playlist rotations, new updates for Portal, and more. Let’s take an early look at some of what’s coming with the first phase of Season 5. Season 5Kicking Off with Two New Maps in the DesertThese maps will deliver the latest all-out warfare experiences across diverse, dynamic combat environments designed to test every playstyle. Encounters offer a seamless variety of tactical experiences, transitioning from intense, close-quarters infantry engagements through dense interior spaces and elevated vantage points to large-scale combined arms combat. Whether pushing forward in close-range firefights or coordinating across vast terrain under contested skies filled with air and heavy vehicle combat, squads must adapt quickly to survive every theater of war. Keep an eye out for upcoming deep dives as we break down these experiences in the near future.Gameplay UpdatesCombat Experience UpdatesSeason 5 includes a range of balance updates across weapons, classes, vehicles, and anti-vehicle gameplay. Our focus with these changes is to create clearer roles for the tools available to each class, improve the balance between infantry and vehicles, and continue refining how different weapons perform across engagement ranges. There’s plenty more coming this season beyond what we’re covering today. We’ll be back soon with the full reveal, including more on the new content coming throughout the season. In the meantime, we want to dig into some of the gameplay changes and improvements arriving alongside Season 5. Vehicle ImprovementsWe're continuing to refine the balance between vehicles and the tools available to counter them in Season 5, with updates aimed at creating clearer strengths and weaknesses on both sides of an encounter.Armored vehicles are receiving adjustments to health regeneration, directional damage, and weak spots, making positioning and where you hit a vehicle more important. Anti-air options are also being adjusted, including improvements to Mobile and Stationary AA cannons, and changes to Scout Helicopter rockets and their resupply timing. We're also refining vehicle loadouts to give weapons and ammunition clearer roles, alongside updates to aim-guided missiles and anti-vehicle tools such as the M15 AV Mine and the PTKM-1R. Air vehicle resupplies will now be vehicle-specific, with additional quality-of-life improvements to visibility when using High-Velocity Shells.Together, these changes are aimed at creating more consistent vehicle combat while making positioning, loadout choices, and counterplay more meaningful. Updates in REDSECSeason 5 brings some changes to our REDSEC playlists, including the arrival of Rapid Royale Solos, updates to our mode rotations, and additional improvements to the Battle Royale experience.Additionally, the Phantom Program in REDSEC is staying active beyond Season 4, giving you and your squad more time to tackle those challenges. Rapid Royale Arrives in Season 5At the start of Season 5, Rapid Royale Trios and Solos will join REDSEC, offering a faster-paced take on the Battle Royale experience.Rapid Royale is designed to get you into the action quickly, with a more condensed Battle Royale experience built around faster matches and more frequent engagements. Some of you may also recognize elements of Rapid Royale from testing through Battlefield Labs, where your participation helped us evaluate and refine the experience ahead of its Season 5 release. With Rapid Royale joining the lineup, we're also making some changes to the modes available at the start of the Season. We’ll share more details closer to the release. What's Changing in Season 5?With Rapid Royale Solos and Trios releasing in Season 5, we’re also making some changes to the modes available through matchmaking.Following our testing in Battlefield Labs, we’re confident in the experience Rapid Royale brings to REDSEC and the faster-paced take on Battle Royale it offers. With its launch, we want to give Rapid Royale the best opportunity to deliver that experience with healthy matchmaking, consistently filled matches, and plenty of players jumping into the action together. That means prioritizing Rapid Royale as we head into Season 5 and making some adjustments to the existing lineup. At the start of Season 5, the current rotation between Battle Royale Solos and Duos will end. We understand Duos is an important way many of you play REDSEC, and we're currently planning for Battle Royale Duos to return later in Season 5.Soon, we'll share more about our plans for REDSEC rotations moving forward. Our current direction is for Rapid Royale Solos and Battle Royale Duos to rotate, but we'll continue looking at matchmaking data and the overall player experience before finalizing those plans. An Update on Gauntlet and REDSEC RotationsWe've enjoyed seeing players jump into Gauntlet and compete through its unique round-based experience since REDSEC launched. We’re proud of what the team created with Gauntlet and the different kinds of competitive experience it brought to Battlefield. At the same time, we want to be transparent that Gauntlet currently represents a much smaller portion of REDSEC play, which can make it increasingly difficult to consistently find and fill matches, particularly in smaller regions or in regions with a smaller Gauntlet population. With Season 5, we're prioritizing Rapid Royale Solos and will be removing Gauntlet from the active playlist lineup. This decision allows us to provide healthier matchmaking, more consistently filled matches, and shorter queue times in REDSEC. While Gauntlet will no longer be part of the regular lineup, we're leaving the door open to its return in the future as we continue to monitor how players engage with REDSEC and adjust our playlists when it makes sense for the overall player experience. This is part of our broader approach to matchmaking and playlist rotations. As we've discussed previously, maintaining too many active playlists can spread players across multiple queues, impacting matchmaking health and the time it takes to get into a match. Our goal with rotations is to balance the variety of ways you can play Battlefield while creating more consistent matches that fill and get you into the action faster. Battle Royale Gameplay UpdatesBeyond playlists, we're making several updates to the Battle Royale experience in Season 5.Class Training Paths are being updated across Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon to further define what each class brings to a squad. This includes new benefits around survivability, armor, revives, spotting, and anti-vehicle play. Armor plating will also be 20% faster across all classes. The Battle Royale loot pool is expanding as well, with more gadgets available across Police Vans, Ambulances, and Class Crates, giving squads more tools to find as a match unfolds. Finally, Reconnect is coming to REDSEC, allowing you to return to an active match after being disconnected and get back into the fight with your squad. We've also recently updated Ranked matchmaking bands to better align players within their intended Rank ranges. This change is already live, but we wanted to highlight it here for anyone who may have missed it. Weapon ImprovementsWe're making several adjustments to how weapons perform against armored players in Battle Royale, particularly across different engagement distances. PDWs, Carbines, Assault Rifles, and LMGs will require an additional bullet to eliminate armored targets at specific ranges, helping further distinguish where each weapon type is most effective. DMRs are also receiving additional tuning, including changes to the M39 EMR and SVDM, alongside updates to ammunition limits for DMRs and Sniper Rifles. We're also updating the starting gadgets available to several classes. Engineer will deploy with the Repair Tool and M136 AT, Support with the Supply Pouch and Deployable Cover, and Recon with T-UGS and the Mobile Jammer. Additional gadgets are also being added to the Battle Royale loot pool, giving you more options to build out your loadout as a match unfolds. We'll have the full weapon-by-weapon breakdown in the Season 5 update notes. Portal UpdatesSeason 5 continues to expand where and how you can build in Portal, with new maps, new spaces to explore, and more environments opening up to creators. Both of the new maps in Phase 1 are joining the Portal lineup, water support is expanding across more REDSEC and multiplayer maps, and the Crashed Carrier is making its way into the toolkit as a new POI to build around.Whether you’re heading to the desert, the Strip, or out to sea, there’s a lot more space to make your own in Season 5.Two New MapsBoth will be available for builders as Verified Portal Experiences at the start of Season 5, with support for Custom Experiences coming later in the season.Staying Hydrated in PortalWe’re expanding water support across more Portal maps, giving creators more environments to build experiences that make use of water. With Season 5, water will expand beyond Ocean Sandbox to include Sandbox and all REDSEC maps, including Complex 3, Defense Nexus, Redline Storage, Area 22B, Marina District, Downtown, Golf Course, and USS Grant. In later updates, we're planning to expand water support across multiple Battlefield 6 multiplayer maps. This is another step toward giving creators more flexibility when choosing where and how to build their Portal experiences.Crashed Carrier POI Coming to PortalThe Crashed Carrier is a US aircraft carrier that was brought down off the coast of Fort Lyndon, creating an all-new POI for Battle Royale, now in Portal starting Season 5.Drop into this Crashed Carrier to contest a new high-value combat space. This new area features higher-value loot than standard POIs on the map. See You in Sin CityThere’s plenty more ahead for Battlefield. We’ll continue monitoring the changes arriving with the Season 5 update while working alongside your feedback and building toward what comes next. For the latest updates, keep an eye on Steam Discussions and our BattlefieldComm X account. If you need to report any issues, please visit EA forums. 1.4.3.1 Known Issues and Status Roundup - September 18

Today, we wanted to follow up on our previous update as we head into the weekend. Here’s a status update on what we’re currently investigating as of September 18. Proximity Chat Status: Proximity Chat will remain disabled throughout the weekend as we continue to investigate the issues related to the feature. We will provide an update once we re-enable it.Matchmaking in REDSEC: From our data, as well as comments from the community, matchmaking has stabilized since the release of 1.4.3.1, and we are continuing to monitor it as one of our highest priorities over the course of the weekend. Missing Weapon Attachments: We have investigated the issue of missing attachments. We are seeing that this issue is isolated to the Firing Range and does not affect live multiplayer or REDSEC matches. We will continue to investigate and work on a resolution.Vehicle Spawn Protection: We've seen some confusion recently regarding "random" out-of-bounds messages triggering in areas of the map that previously were safe to explore. To clarify, this is an intentional design feature to prevent players from blocking or camping active vehicle spawns. If you find yourself staring at an OOB warning in a seemingly normal spot, it's because you are in a vehicle spawn zone. The warning is designed to keep vehicle deployment predictable and fair for both teams. We appreciate you calling this out, and we are discussing how we can more clearly highlight this functionality in the future.Incorrect HUD Damage Tracking in REDSEC: We are investigating an issue where weapon damage numbers exceeding 100 are not displaying accurately in the player HUD. This is primarily occurring within REDSEC matches. Please note that actual damage dealt is calculated correctly on the backend as your weapons are dealing their full intended damage. Only the visual indicator on your screen is displaying incorrectly. We are actively working on a fix to restore accurate HUD damage readouts and will share updates as soon as they are confirmed.Missing Hit Indicators on Armor in REDSEC: We are investigating an issue where players wearing armor do not receive incoming damage and directional indicators when shot. Our team is actively working on a fix to restore these hit indicators and we will share when we have a resolution.Delay in HUD notifications: We have deployed a server-side backend change to resolve an issue which caused delays in the in-game UI. The notifications should now be instant again.Zeroing on Sniper Rifles: We have found the underlying issue which causes the Zeroing indicator to be missing from Sniper Rifles. This fix will require a client update, and we’ll let you know when we are able to deploy a patch for this.Interdictor in Gauntlet: We are aware of reports from players that the Interdictor can do an unintended amount of damage in Gauntlet. We are looking to adjust the damage to bring it back in line with the intended range we introduced in 1.4.3.0. The team is actively pushing forward on these fixes as well as the previous ones we mentioned earlier this week. We will share updates as more information becomes available. Have a great weekend, and thank you for your patience. // The Battlefield Team

1.4.3.0 Known Issues and Status Roundup - September 16

With Battlefield 6 Update 1.4.3.0 now live, we wanted to give you an update on what we’re currently investigating following the patch and the additional client hotfix deployed today, September 16. Missing Weapon Attachments: We’re investigating reports of missing/switching attachments since Season 4 Phase 3 went live.Battle Royale Modes Matchmaking: We are continuing to investigate the underlying issue. As this doesn’t affect all players in all regions, this has been more difficult to pin down. Disabled Proximity Chat: We have disabled Proximity Chat to investigate an issue related to the feature and will provide an update once we re-enable it.Minimap Issue: The underlying issue with the Minimap being invisible when downed has been found. We're working to include a fix for this in our next client update.Deep Six Event Pop Up: We resolved an issue that caused the Deep Six Event information screen to pop up every time you visited the event tab. This should now only happen the first time you navigate to the tab.Deep Six Event Contracts: We have identified and resolved an issue with the Deep Six Collection event contracts. We have rolled out this fix, and players should now receive contracts at the intended level.Delayed In-Game Notifications: We're investigating reports of in-game notifications being delayed (scoreboard, hit indicators) and will update you once we have more information.Javelin Anticheat: The Anticheat team has deployed a new Javelin version, which should now be compatible with the Windows Insider Builds that had previously not been supported. The team is actively looking into further updates to resolve bugs currently encountered, and we’re continuing to investigate additional reports as they come in. We'll share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience. // The Battlefield Team

Unlock premium Weapon Packages, Customization Rewards, and the new Diver’s Knife!New Melee Weapon:Diver’s KnifeOriginally carried by Royal Navy divers operating in challenging maritime environments, the Royal Navy Dive Knife serves as the ultimate reward for players who complete the full Collection Event.Proximity ChatProximity Chat opens up new ways to communicate with nearby players during a match. Who you hear depends on their position relative to you, with voices placed directionally and shaped by the surrounding environment. Walls can obstruct voices, indoor spaces can change how they sound, and being inside a vehicle will also affect what you hear. You’ll be able to see who is speaking through Proximity Chat, with options to mute or report players when needed. Solo players and parties will default to Game voice chat, making it easier to take advantage of these interactions. To give you more control over this experience, we've also added the following options:Below the Commo Rose, you can now quickly swap channels and globally turn Proximity Chat on or off.Opening the scoreboard in Battle Royale will show a list of recent players you’ve heard through Proximity Chat. From there, you can mute, report, or block a player by selecting their name through the EA Connect pop-up. Up to four players can be heard at the same time. A UI message will let you know when this limit has been reached, with additional speakers temporarily muted until a channel becomes available. We’re excited to bring Proximity Chat to Battlefield Battle Royale, but real-world testing will be important as we continue to tune the experience. We’ll be looking closely at feedback around audio range, clarity, moderation tools, and how Proximity Chat affects gameplay before expanding the feature further.During this testing period, Proximity Chat may be switched on or off while we apply fixes and improvements. Once you’ve had a chance to try it, let us know what works, what doesn’t, and how it changes the way you communicate on the battlefield.Phantom ProgramAlso starting with Tidal Strike, players can tackle the Phantom Program, a limited-time REDSEC operation. Hunt for hidden intelligence, easter eggs and the larger mystery of what has caused the Fort Lyndon security network breach. Earn exclusive rewards, including Weapon Packages and more. Major Updates for 1.4.3.0Vehicle Improvements: Transport Helicopters, RCB90s, and Scout Helicopters have received gameplay, balance, presentation, and handling improvements.Gunplay and Readability: Weapon reticles, optics, attachment presentation, and a range of weapon-specific issues have been updated to improve clarity and consistency.REDSEC Improvements: Battle Royale mission flow, ring interactions, redeployment, loot behaviour, spectating, and quality-of-life systems have received further updates.Portal and Custom Lobbies: Custom Lobby reliability, spectator tools, Spatial Editor functionality, Portal scripting, and creator-facing tools have been expanded and refined.UI and Presentation: Menus, Ranked information, Store and Battle Pass flows, End of Round presentation, and item visibility have received a broad polish pass.Audio and AI: Audio feedback has been improved across movement, vehicles, and interface interactions, while AI gains improved navigation and water traversal. Reticle ImprovementsIn 1.4.3.0, we’ve overhauled reticles across all weapon optics, launchers, and gadgets to deliver cleaner visuals, reduced clutter, and improved readability against any background. These refinements also strive to enhance the visuals with a more pronounced glow, crisper lines and optimized overall sizing of the center dots/reticles, ensuring a clearer view so you can focus on lining up every shot.Developer comment: We’re aware of a bug that causes some scopes to come with overly thick black borders on PlayStation 5. We’re aiming to have this resolved with the 1.4.3.5 update, arriving in a few weeks.CHANGELOGPLAYERCorrected an issue where picking up a fallen Support Kit would grant the ability to revive teammates even after picking up another class kit.Corrected an issue where healing counted as a damage event that kicked players out of using remote-controlled gadgets.Vehicle supply crate collision radius checks are now slightly bigger to prevent player clipping bugs from occurring.Launchers will now have a small splash VFX play when the projectile passes through water.Fixed an issue where, when swimming/on the surface, players received a damage reduction when the bullet went through them and hit the water underneath.Players are no longer able to phase through the Carrier while driving the boat at a moderate amount of speed.Requesting revive is no longer interrupted if a friendly reviver gets killed or cancels the revive.Made vehicles more audible while the player is underwater.Corrected an issue where aim rotation could behave incorrectly when using the Repair Tool from the open seat in the UH-79. Fixed a visual issue causing the gunner’s first-person hands to glitch when looking up or down in the UH-79.Corrected an issue where a precise damage calculation could occasionally kill a soldier who had received roughly 99 damage.Improved the ability for players in a party to join the game together. VEHICLESCorrected a camera issue where tanks and the RCB90 could stutter while zooming in third-person view.RCB90 Patrol BoatHealth increased from 800 to 1000.Improved steering responsiveness.Corrected an issue where the RCB90’s Deploy Ramp passive could remain active when it should not.Updated RCB90 weapon and vehicle event feedback for supported haptic devices.Corrected a typo in the Lock-Guided Missile description of the RCB90 Patrol Boat.AH-6 Little BirdMinigun overheat per bullet has been increased by ~33%, roughly overheating ~1.5 seconds faster than before with continuous fire.Decreased Minigun damage dealt to RCB90 Patrol Boats and ATPs by 50%.Transport Helicopters can now correctly take damage from small arms fire. GADGETSCorrected an issue where a tank could be destroyed by running over a friendly Portable Mortar.AA Gadget balance: SLM-93A and 9K38 Igla:Lock-on directional indicator for air vehicles has been removed.Developer comment: We've heard your feedback on infantry vs. aircraft balancing. We are removing the directional warning that alerts pilots to the location of a MANPAD lock-on. This means pilots will have to break off attacks earlier or wait for the missile trail to find its source, making the MANPAD a more effective deterrent and its user less vulnerable to immediate retaliation. The defibrillators no longer fire a charge upon stance change.WEAPONSResolved an issue where the icon for the canted irons on the EF88 was misplaced Fixed an issue where match ammo for the M2010 and SVK had unintended amounts of damage reduction versus opponents in water.Corrected issues related to weapon stats not updating correctly for the EF88, BROD and VSSM.Updated descriptions on several weapons, including mention of subsonic ammo, which is a default attribute on the M45A1 and vz.61.The weight of the long and lightened suppressor in the L115 has been swapped.Corrected an issue where Vertical Grips on RPKM and RPK-74M have an offset hand position when a laser or light is equipped.Reticles have been improved for clearer visibility, with better readability against bright backgrounds. There is a new option allowing players to turn off the Picture-in-Picture zoom functionality on optics, which will change zoom to only use full-screen FOV rather than combine FOV and additional zoom inside the optic. Changing this does not change the total magnification scale but ensures the total zoom is only changing FOV.BROD3Corrected an issue where the lasers did not move with the short/extended handguards on the BROD 3.Lasers now correctly adjust their position on the BROD 3 with the short and long handguard.Resolved an issue where thumb placement was unnatural when equipping certain grips on BROD 3.Corrected an issue where the BROD 3 Handguard was missing its icon. Interdictor Balance UpdatesMinimum damage increased from 62 to 80.Limb damage now matches chest damageSweet spot damage decreased from 150 to 100Sweet spot range adjusted to 120m to 160mDamage against armor in REDSEC increased to 100 regardless of hit location or distanceIncorrect impact visual effects were corrected for all ammunition types except Match Grade AmmoIron Sight attachment now costs 15 points.Developer comment: The Interdictor's damage didn't always match its powerful feel, so we've increased its effectiveness and consistency. It now deals 80 damage to the chest and limbs at all ranges, making two-hit kills much more reliable and one-hit kills on damaged foes more common. To better counter players using armor plates, especially in REDSEC, we've also increased its damage against them. With these adjustments, the old "sweeter spot" mechanic was redundant, so we have normalized the damage for more predictable performance. MAPS & MODESCarrier StrikeAdded Out of Bounds volumes to reduce instances of spawn camping on the carrier deck.Corrected an issue where HQ icons would not stick to the minimap in Rush and Breakthrough.Fixed "Alliance Disbanded" notification incorrectly appearing during the final round of Gauntlet.Corrected an issue where a player's class would be deselected after exiting a mode tutorial.Jets will no longer spawn on the carriers once breached, and will only be available through the deploy screen. Developer comment: We love seeing the battles on Carrier Strike, and we've also seen your feedback about spawn camping on carriers. We're rolling out some adjustments to improve the overall experience of the mode. Please let us know what you think once you've had a chance to play with these changes! Iberian OffensiveResolved an issue where some wall sections had no collision. Better wear a helmet when running into those now. Manhattan BridgeAdjusted out-of-bounds on the first floor of a building near point E in conquest.Adjusted several areas where the collision checks were overextended. This will make flying more predictable and cause fewer helicopters to crash against these buildings.Tsuru Reef BreakthroughEach sector has been expanded to allow both teams more flanking routes and the use of boats. Sector 1Added 2 RHIBsSwapped Attacker Light Transport for APCExpanded the size of the Capture Points at “A”Moved “B” to a Warehouse along the MarinaSector 2Increased the size of Capture volume B to include more coverSwapped Attacker Light Transport for APCSwapped Defender Light Transport for QuadMoved Defender contested spawns back 10-15MFixed Attacker contested/non contested spawns at the beachSector 3Added an additional Capture Point down below across the waterwaySwapped Attacker APC for Light TransportRemoved APC for DefendersIncreased the size of Capture Point “A”Sector 4Reduced the number of Capture Points from 2 to 1Expanded the Capture Point size of “A” down at the DocksPROGRESSIONKill Confirmed and Assist Confirmed round stats now track correctly towards Career Bests.New seasonal hardware assignments have been added for Season 4.Corrected an issue where the SABOTEUR Accolade could be incorrectly awarded when destroying your own Supply Bag.UI & HUDCorrected an issue where the "Steady Aim" prompt would appear while holding breath, even if set to toggle mode rather than hold mode.Fixed the issue in the net graph where it was showing armor breaking events that also dealt health damage as two separate damage events instead of one.Corrected an issue where contract progress would display incorrectly. Changed the Contract Failed string to Contract Expired.Corrected an issue where the resurface screen effect would play when standing in water and editing loadout.Corrected an issue where duplicate multiplayer requirement tags could appear in Custom Search.Corrected an issue where the Event tab could be missing or inaccessible from the main menu when an event was active.Corrected an issue where certain events could display an incorrect end time in the Challenges tab.Fixed a brief delay when viewing Battle Pass Instant Rewards for the first time.Corrected an issue where the splash screen could appear cropped on super ultrawide displays.Corrected an issue where the XP Boost panel could overlap with other UI elements in the main menu.Updated event timers to display consistently across the Home and Event tabs.Corrected an issue where empty reward tiles could appear in End of Round progression.Corrected an issue where selection highlights could overlap adjacent tiles in Game Options.Corrected an issue where Hardware attachments could disappear from Loadouts after viewing their Challenge unlock requirements.Improved the readability of row titles in the Play menu when displayed over bright backgrounds.Improved the layout and presentation of Ranked information in the Player Profile.Fixed attachment indicator alignment issues across several weapons.Corrected an issue where the keyboard shortcut to like a map was not working on the End of Round screen.Corrected an issue where the Mark All Seen button could remain visible after clearing all new item indicators.Corrected an issue where Career Rank could be missing from the main menu after leaving a match.Corrected an issue where characters could appear without their weapons when viewing Unit Details in Loadouts.Corrected an issue where Challenge progression could display incorrectly on the End of Round screen.Corrected an issue where equipped Player Card Titles could fail to update in the Lobby.Corrected an issue where the Clear All Indicators button could remain visible after clearing all New indicators in the Battle Pass.Corrected an issue where character previews could become unavailable after equipping certain characters in Loadouts.Improved the consistency of icon artwork across multiple characters, weapons, and gadgets.Corrected the name of PAX's Scout Helicopter to MH-350.Resolved an issue that caused the BF Pro popup to appear more frequently than intended.PORTALFixed layout overlap between player count and ping indicators in the Server Browser.Map bounds now focus on the experience's intended play space, and Out-of-Bounds areas will be hidden by default.Updated Portal's music system so queuing a new radio music track no longer restarts the currently playing track.Ring of Fire now displays a flashing indicator when the player is near the Ring’s edge.Mesh quality has been improved for several assets.Battle Pickup icons no longer persist after item pickup.Added a new BlockingSphere object type to block spotting and added new VFX for clouds. Battlefield 6 - Anticheat - Taking the Fight Outside the Game

Dear Battlefield Community,We’re excited to share a new development in our fight to keep Battlefield fair for all, particularly in regards to cheatmakers.EA raised concerns with Collective Minds, the manufacturer of the Cronus Zen and Strike Pack hardware devices, regarding third-party tools that enable cheating in multiple EA titles. Following our engagement, EA-related content and scripts were removed from the Cronus Zen and Strike Pack public sites and Discord server. This positive step for our team ensures that we’re continuing to fight cheating on every available front as we work to maintain fair play across casual and competitive play. For more details, please read the official EA blog update here: www.ea.com/news/ea-javelin-anticheat-2026-updateWe’ll see you on the BattlefieldBF_SledgeHammer

Battlefield 6 - Anticheat Metrics - July

Hey Soldier,July was the end of Season 3 and the first ranked season, as well as the beginning of Season 4. This will be our first month posting the updated MIR with the changes made to improve its accuracy, as we outlined in the Anticheat Update for Season 4.In the previous June update, June ended at 6.59% based on our previous MIR calculation and then stabilized to 4.62% after our update to the new definition that accounts for highly reported high skill and vehicle players. In case you missed it, while reviewing recent data, our anti-cheat and analytics teams noticed a steady increase in MIR that didn't align with any changes in known cheating populations, communities, or cheating tools. A deeper investigation revealed the cause: reports against legitimate players, particularly highly skilled players and especially those who spend most of their time in vehicles. To redress this, we've updated MIR to better filter out such legitimate players. While we won't share the exact methodology to avoid enabling abuse, but the principle is straightforward: if a player is consistently reported over a long period yet never triggers other anti-cheat signals and repeatedly passes manual review, MIR will recognize them for what they are: a skilled Battlefield veteran. For the full explanation, check out the Anticheat Update for Season 4 linked above. Refer to our January update, where we discussed how MIR updates to understand how and why these shifts occur in more detail. We previously called out the upcoming enforcement of TPM 2.0, which is live as of August 31st. Refer to the published How do I use TPM 2.0 on my PC? article for guidance and resolution steps, and thank you for helping us keep our Battlefield secure against bad actors.July: Results & ImpactMatch Infection Rate: The percentage of matches across the title that were negatively impacted by at least one cheater. This includes all suspected cheaters you've reported, even those we might not have enough evidence to enforce against. From the end of June, MIR started at 4.62%. This continued to steadily climb to a high of 5.74% from July 13th until July 15th, and then began to see a decrease to 4.86% on the 20th, fluctuating in the later stages of the month until the end of July, when it was at 4.76% as of writing this update.Through July, EA Javelin Anti-Cheat prevented 277,649 attempts to cheat or tamper with the game before they could impact matches. We are presently still tracking a total of 104 (-8) active cheat-related programs, hardware solutions, vendors, resellers, and their associated communities, and out of these, 100 (-7) are reporting related feature failures, detection notices, downtime, or fully taking their cheats offline (96.15%).Keep it fair out there - see you on the Battlefield.BF_SledgeHammer

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Tidal Strike

Hey everyone,Top Gun gave players a substantial new wave of content, particularly around air and naval warfare, and we’ve seen many of you continuing to jump in and enjoy the collaboration. As we previously shared, Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep have been extended through the entirety of Season 4.As we prepare for Tidal Strike, we’ve been catching up with teams across Battlefield Studios, including Gameplay Design Director Brian Torrence, Game Designer Jac Carlsson, and members of our Level Design team, to talk through the latest gameplay adjustments, combat updates, and improvements coming your way. That work starts with some of the feedback we’ve been seeing around the balance of Breakthrough on Tsuru Reef.Tidal StrikeTsuru Reef Breakthrough AdjustmentsWe heard your ongoing feedback regarding the current state of Breakthrough on Tsuru Reef. We have been closely monitoring player discussions alongside how matches are playing out, and found that the current balance favors the defending team more heavily than intended.Addressing this imbalance is a focus for the upcoming update. We’re making several changes designed to give Attackers more opportunities to move forward while maintaining strong defensive play:Objective & Chokepoint Reworks: We are adjusting capture zone boundaries and moving some objectives across the map to help the attacking team establish a foothold and keep the fight moving.Route Enhancements: We’re expanding the playable space across sectors to create additional flanking routes, including more ways to use boats to move around defensive positions.Spawn & Vehicle Tweaks: Attacker and Defender spawn locations and vehicle availability are being adjusted to help improve the flow and balance of each sector. These changes are intended to create a more balanced fight across Tsuru Reef, and we’ll share all the detailed changes in the upcoming Update Notes. Update on Carrier StrikeWe’re aware of your feedback around spawn camping in Carrier Strike, particularly situations where teams can come under heavy pressure shortly after spawning. The team is investigating these concerns and looking at where adjustments may be needed to improve the experience. We’ll share more as that work progresses.Battlefield 6 One Year AnniversaryAs we move through the final stretch of Battlefield 6’s first year, we’re getting ready to celebrate the journey so far.Towards the end of September, we’re planning a two-week anniversary event with a series of challenges and rewards to earn as you play. The event will run alongside our regular playlist rotation, so you can work towards the anniversary rewards while playing. We’ll have more details on the challenges and rewards to share closer to the celebration. And for those of you looking for another challenge, the REDSEC Phantom Program will be waiting. Put your skills to the test as you work to uncover intel and piece together a powerful access code to find your way through Fort Lyndon’s security system. The Phantom Program will be available in Solos, Duos, and Quads whenever those playlists are active. Good luck! Gameplay UpdatesCombat Experience UpdatesWe’re continuing to make updates across the combat experience, including improvements to aiming clarity and several adjustments to vehicle combat.Reticle ImprovementsWe’re making a broad set of improvements to reticles to improve their look, readability, and clarity while aiming. You may have already spotted some early iterations of these changes in our Top Gun trailer, and they’ll be coming to the game with this upcoming update.Reticles have been redesigned to be cleaner and easier to read across different backgrounds. The reticle shader was adjusted to achieve a better and more prominent “glow” on applicable sights. This pass applies across all reticles, from red dot sights to high-magnification optics, with sharper visuals and more gameplay-focused designs where applicable. We’ve also refined the sizing of many reticles, including reducing red dots and other elements that could appear larger or thicker than intended. Alongside removing unnecessary visual clutter, these changes are designed to keep your view clearer and help you focus on the information that matters when lining up a shot. These improvements also extend to sights used on launchers and gadgets, creating a more consistent aiming experience across the Battlefield sandbox. We’ve also seen your early feedback on the Interdictor and how it’s performing since its arrival with the Top Gun update. The design team is looking at improvements for the weapon, and we’ll share the specific changes once they’re finalized.Vehicle ImprovementsWe’re making several adjustments to vehicle combat, with a focus on improving the Patrol Boat’s handling and survivability while creating a healthier balance around minigun fire.We are reducing oversteer on the RCB-90 Patrol Boat to make it feel more predictable in motion. We’re also reducing the damage that Miniguns deal to Patrol Boats and ATPs, giving these vehicles more room to survive sustained fire. At the same time, the Little Bird’s Minigun will overheat faster, helping create a better balance between sustained aerial fire and the vehicles being targeted. We’re also adjusting the interaction between pilots and lock-on anti-air weapons. With this update, the directional lock-on indicator for the Lock-Guided AA Missile and IGLA will no longer be shown to pilots. We’re also keeping a close eye on the Little Bird as we continue looking at the broader balance between air vehicles and anti-air. We’re seeing the most experienced pilots continue to improve, with the top 5% of pilots averaging around three more kills per match than they did six months ago.At the same time, our data does not currently show the Scout Helicopter as the biggest vehicle threat to players on any map, with IFVs and MBTs accounting for more player kills. Its impact also varies by environment, with the Patrol Boat among its primary threats on Tsuru Reef. While we aren’t seeing data that suggests the Little Bird has become significantly more impactful overall, we know there’s still room for improvement. We’ll continue monitoring its performance alongside the broader air and anti-air balance and evaluating where further changes may be needed. The goal is to make vehicle encounters feel more consistent while giving squads more opportunities to react and stay in the fight. We have some targeted changes planned for jets in the next season, and will share more once those changes are finalized. Updates in REDSECWe’re also bringing several gameplay updates to REDSEC, including new ways to communicate and tools designed to help keep matches fair and engaging.Proximity ChatProximity Chat opens up new ways to communicate with players around you during a match. Who you hear will depend on where they are in relation to you, with voices positioned directionally and affected by the environment around you. Walls can obstruct voices, indoor spaces can change how they sound, and vehicles are also accounted for as part of the experience. You’ll be able to identify players speaking through Proximity Chat and have access to options to mute or report players when needed. Solo players and parties will also default to Game voice chat so they can take advantage of these interactions. To give you more control over this experience, we've also added the following options:Below the Commo Rose, you can now quickly swap channels and globally turn Proximity Chat on or off.Bringing up the scoreboard in Battle Royale will show a list of recent Proximity Chat users you have heard. From there, you can easily mute, report, or block players by selecting their name via the EA Connect popup. A maximum of four players can be heard simultaneously. A UI message will alert you when this limit is reached, and other speakers will be squelched until a channel becomes free.We are excited to bring Proximity Chat to Battlefield Battle Royale, but there is a lot we need to learn from our players, as this is a feature that needs real-world testing to tune its performance. We are looking to gather feedback directly from players as we evaluate audio range, clarity, moderation tools, and the overall impact the feature has on gameplay before expanding it further. During this testing, we may need to switch it on and off to apply fixes and improvements. Once you’ve had a chance to try it, we want to hear what works, what doesn’t, and how it changes the way you communicate on the battlefield. AFK Kick and Leave PenaltyWith this update, we’re introducing additional tools to address players who stop participating in matches or leave competitive experiences before they are finished.AFK Kick is designed to identify players who have become inactive and provide a clear warning before removing them from the match. Player activity will reset the inactivity detection, and the system accounts for situations where players naturally have less control, such as spectating or waiting to redeploy. We’re also adding the ability to report a player for being AFK through EA Connect, giving players another way to flag teammates who are not participating. In addition, we’re introducing Leave Penalties for designated playlists. When attempting to leave one of these matches early, players will receive a warning explaining that a penalty will be applied if they continue. Players who repeatedly leave can receive escalating matchmaking restrictions for the affected playlist. Our goal with these systems is to protect players who stay and compete while making sure the consequences for leaving or inactivity are clearly communicated.Battlefield LabsWe are continuing our Battlefield Labs testing as we look ahead to what’s next for Season 5 and beyond. Our upcoming session will include testing new layouts for New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields in Conquest, with a focus on creating more ways to approach and move through each map. This includes more separation between HQs, additional vertical space to support flanking, more terrain breaks, and more ways to reach rooftops and approach objectives. We’ll also be testing a range of combat vehicle balance changes, with a focus on how air and ground vehicles interact with each other and their counters. This includes exploring the balance between aircraft and anti-air, as well as how ground vehicles, their weapons, and anti-vehicle tools perform across different combat situations. These tests will help us evaluate where further adjustments can improve the overall vehicle experience. We’re looking forward to getting these updates into your hands and seeing what you think.Portal UpdatesWe’re continuing to expand the tools and options available to creators and players in Portal. With this update, King of the Hill and Domination are being added as Verified Modes, giving you more ways to build and play experiences around these modes. We’re also introducing a new Ocean Sandbox Map, giving creators an open-water starting point to build experiences from the ocean up. Alongside it, we’re expanding the water and cloud systems available in Portal, opening up more possibilities for how creators shape and customize their experiences. We’re looking forward to seeing what you build.More AheadThere’s plenty more ahead for Battlefield. We’ll continue monitoring the changes arriving with the Tidal Strike update while working alongside you through Battlefield Labs as we test and build toward what comes next.In case you missed it, our latest Seasonal Anticheat Update covers our ongoing efforts to support fair play across Battlefield, including the latest on Match Infection Rate and other improvements from the Anticheat team. BATTLEFIELD 6 UPDATE 1.4.2.5

Battlefield 6 Game Update 1.4.2.5 is scheduled to release on September 1, bringing targeted quality-of-life fixes and reliability improvements across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC.This small update addresses a handful of issues introduced or identified following Update 1.4.2.0, with improvements to match flow, gameplay consistency, Custom Lobby reliability, UI behavior, and stability. Update Highlights for 1.4.2.5Gadget and Vehicle Combat Improvements: Laser designation now works correctly against fighter jets in Carrier Strike, while helicopter miniguns can once again damage soldiers in the water.Portal Custom Lobby Improvements: Custom Lobbies receive further reliability improvements, including resolving an issue that could prevent the “Start” tile from responding during the lobby countdown.Gameplay and Mode Polish: This update also addresses issues affecting Battle Royale Quads, Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, Support pings, the Match Trigger attachment, AI behavior, and general stability and presentation.CHANGELOGPLAYER:Support players can now ping downed teammates correctly.Players can now join a Party by accepting an invite while on the splash screen.VEHICLES:Helicopter miniguns can now damage enemy soldiers who are in the water.Laser designation now works correctly on the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat while playing Carrier Strike.GADGETS:Grenade warning indicators now remain at the edge of the screen when the grenade is outside the player’s view. The EOD Bot Arm has been adjusted to function as a light melee weapon, providing the faster run speed benefit without the destruction capability of heavy melee weapons.WEAPONS:The Match Trigger attachment no longer affects fully automatic fire on the BROD and EF88.UI & HUD:We’ve addressed several causes of black screens after finishing a match and switching from the Event tab to the lobby. Battlefield 6 - Anticheat Update - Season 4

With the conclusion of our first season of Ranked Mode, we have gained deeper insights into the competitive landscape of REDSEC. While Season 4 introduces new ways to play, we have observed new methods of cheating, which we are now actively analyzing and countering to maintain match integrity. One of those will be around the enforcement of TPM 2.0 standards we previously relaxed and observed bad actors taking advantage of during Season 3. We’ve worked with manufacturers to resolve issues that could have affected legitimate players, minimizing the impact so we can confidently enable this enforcement going forward from today. What we learned from our first Ranked SeasonOur first season of Ranked play reinforced a lesson we’ve seen time and again: when meaningful progression and competitive stakes are introduced, cheating communities become more active and motivated. The season gave us invaluable insight into how our titles' cheating behavior evolves under pressure, from the techniques used to gain an unfair advantage as well as where player skill and outliers can surprise you.Revisiting Prohibited Hardware / Software We found quite a few sets of hardware/software products becoming popular at various levels of play over the season in cheating communities. Some we had previously evaluated and allowed but are going to be added to the prohibited software/hardware list after re-evaluations. Note that any prohibited product will cause a warning when attempting to launch BF6 like the following: We don’t block those programs without good reasons, you can see a previous response by Anti-CheatWard from the Javelin team regarding a previously allowed remapping product, reWASD, and what events resulted in its addition to that list here: EA Javelin Anticheat & Recent Software Blocks. We know that some players may use these products for accessibility and want everyone to be able to play. As a reminder, supported input devices and software such as the Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation Access Controller and Steam Input are not prohibited. When we decide to block a particular hardware/software product, it’s because its continued allowance undermines Fair Play. When considering whether or not something would be prohibited we consider the following:“Does this offer a competitive advantage over others?”On the software side, examples of what we prohibit: Remapping software that masks or emulates input devices via virtual devices to circumvent anti-cheat validations and checks.Remapping software that doesn’t properly expose its configurations while allowing input automation, such as nullifying recoil patterns, turbo modes, etc.Sound radars that indicate more than type, direction, and loudness visually, such as the specific spot for specific sounds on overlays meant for or resembling a minimap.Sound equalizers that change automatically based on specific in-game cues or events. Such as quieting other noises whenever footsteps are present.Crosshair overlays that adapt to or allow for modification while running, such as changing color depending on location/game context.Overlays that provide artificial zoom enhancements, highlighting targets, or other similar non-screen-wide distortions or recoloring. On the hardware side, examples of what we prohibit:Input devices that subvert the balance of aim-assist, such as enabling it for Mouse and Keyboard type devices rather than intended formats like gampads.Input devices that provide any ability to program or “script” multiple sequential or simultaneous input signals, no matter whether they call it a macro, a mod, or a combo, it’s cheating and not permitted.Input devices designed to avoid detection while providing functionality for a competitive advantage, specifically XIM, Cronus Zen, Strikepack, and Titan Two are such devices.Gamepads modified to add features to gain a competitive advantage, such as Turbo, Macro Mods, Aim Assist Abuse, Full-Auto Semi, Recoil Assist, Turbo Crouch Shot, etc.Monitors that provide or nullify game features such as flashbangs, scopes, zoom levels, night vision or tracks/augments the rendering of in-game characters.“Does this circumvent or subvert anti-cheat detections and warnings?”Sometimes products will claim to have a “Compatibility Mode” that makes their software compliant with Javelin for Battlefield 6. Any officially supported methods of using these products will be called out in the anticheat warnings. You can test the validity of any such claim by turning off their “Compatibility Mode” and seeing if the block warning directs you to enable it. If it doesn’t, it’s prohibited.“Does this software offer an attack vector to bad actors?”Sometimes it’s not the product itself that's the problem, it might be what it’s built on. Bad actors take advantage of the security faults wherever they find them, be it drivers, libraries or any number of other software dependencies these tools can rely on, especially when that tool is otherwise trusted and used by a large number of players. These products can sometimes hide behind simpler features that we generally have no issue with but enhance them to such a degree that it moves them from their previous gray areas. Just because two products offer what sounds like the same feature doesn’t mean they are the same. Examples of such features that have such distinctions include input remapping, crosshair overlays, additional levels of screen magnification, sound equalizers that overemphasize footsteps and gunfire or visualize it too specifically, and the list goes on.In-Game “Nudges”We’ve added new in-game notifications related to player moderation and anti-cheat enforcements. These notifications will only be raised during times when they would not interrupt gameplay, like the main menu or pre-game lobbies, and during matches only when you are dead and waiting for the respawn timer. The intention is to let you know when you are engaging in something that constitutes a more minor violation of our policies, providing an opportunity to disengage from that behavior before it warrants more significant warnings or sanctions. How these will appear to you in-game: Some examples we are still evaluating for using these nudges:Anti-Cheat:Purposely and consistently getting out of bounds to normally inaccessible portions of the map (under the map, behind walls, inside of game objects) as a means of getting an advantage over others regardless of method.Matchmaking manipulations to engage in a prohibited behavior that undermines fairness, such as: stream sniping, collusion with other squads in ranked, harassment, etc.Using game exploits beyond a reasonable level of “Fun” and “Chaos” that they can bring before we fix them.Text and VOIP Moderation:Playing disruptive media over VOIP such as sirens, gunfire, footsteps, in an effort to negatively impact others' ability to hear in-game indicators accurately. An early warning when the content of a message would have resulted in a sanction in line with our Positive Play Charter had it been reported. Match Infection Rate (MIR) Updates: Filtering the NoiseAs part of our ongoing effort to provide a transparent look at game health, we want to dive into an adjustment we’re making to how we calculate our Match Infection Rate (MIR).While reviewing recent data, our anti-cheat and analytics teams noticed a steady increase in MIR that didn't align with any changes in known cheating populations, communities, or cheating tools. A deeper investigation revealed the cause: reports against legitimate players, particularly highly skilled players and especially those who spend most of their time in vehicles. The Impact of Player ReportsThe MIR we publish is a predictive metric. It doesn't just count confirmed cheaters we’ve given the hammer; it also incorporates signals that help estimate potential cheating activity we may not yet have sufficient capabilities to detect. Player reports are one of those signals and remain an important tool for identifying suspicious behavior, uncovering detection gaps, and spotting emerging circumvention methods. However, legitimate players are also reported, sometimes because of exceptional skill, unique playstyles, or, occasionally, malicious reporting. We even found one account that reported virtually every player in every match they played, which is certainly a dedicated use of their time. This is also why we don't use reports alone to sanction accounts. Reports help direct investigations, but they are not evidence of wrongdoing by themselves regardless of volumes. What We’re ChangingTo redress this, we're updating MIR to better filter out such legitimate players. While we won't share the exact methodology to avoid enabling abuse, the principle is straightforward: if a player is consistently reported over a long period yet never triggers other anti-cheat signals and repeatedly passes manual review, MIR will recognize them for what they are: a skilled Battlefield veteran. This exclusion only applies as long as reports remain the sole indicator. If any other of our hundreds of anti-cheat detections and/or signals are triggered, that player immediately returns to the pool considered by MIR. Moving forward, this updated definition will provide a more accurate picture of where cheaters may be operating, rather than repeatedly flagging a particular group of highly skilled vehicle crews or Little Bird pilots who routinely rack up 100+ kills legitimately and attract large numbers of reports. Cheaters, in comparison, accumulate reports and detections and don’t survive long enough to establish this kind of long standing match history—the majority get banned quickly during the first few matches/hours of gameplay.Ultimately, this updated definition ensures that MIR remains a strong indicator of the cheating population affecting your matches. The MIR we share publicly is the same metric we use internally, and in the spirit of transparency, we've included a before-and-after view of how this update impacts MIR over the past few months. Match Infection Rate: The percentage of matches across the title that were negatively impacted by at least one cheater. This includes all suspected cheaters you've reported, even those we might not have enough evidence to enforce against..Security Feature EnforcementTPM - We appreciate players who have already gone through the efforts of enabling secure boot. We were maintaining some allowances for players that were unable to enable it due to TPM chip issues, but we’ve been working with partners and various manufacturers to resolve these compliance issues. TPM specifications are defined by the Trusted Computing Group here and formalized in the 2015 ISO requirements ISO/IEC 11889-1:2015. We are going to enable strict enforcement of the requirement going forward in line with this update. If you are still encountering issues please refer to the article here for some troubleshooting guidance: How do I use TPM 2.0 on my PC?.For context, 98.76% of current players are already playing on hardware that is fully enabled and compliant with the title's currently enforced requirements. Of the remaining 1.24%, the majority are actively using third-party emulators and/or spoofing their hardware compliance and/or are associated with some level of botting or cheating in the title.HVCI and VBS - These requirements have been present for the title since launch, but we haven’t enforced them yet. We are finalizing how we might deploy these to be most effective without negatively impacting legitimate players, and have not decided that strategy. We may only require specific players with suspicious activity (like a lack of/or falsified telemetry), for specific modes like ranked, or only for participation in official or sponsored tournaments. Regardless we are actively looking at the player data and how cheaters behave to inform and finalize that strategy. We will keep you posted before we enforce any of these security features.Recommendations for CPU StabilityOur telemetry recently flagged an uptick in client crashes, which, after thorough investigation, we traced back to an issue related to users' CPU microcode and a Windows Insider Update causing conflicts with our anti-cheat software. We worked with Microsoft and Intel to resolve this situation. To ensure you stay at peak performance on the front lines, we strongly advise applying the latest microcode updates and Windows updates to get these fixes. We are also working to update the error code messages encountered by the Javelin Launcher to give players a more descriptive error message and update our troubleshooting content here: How to install and troubleshoot EA Javelin anticheat on PC.BF_SledgeHammer UpdateWe’re impressed with the sheer volume of interactions with BF_SledgeHammer so far, we wish we could reply to every DM, but even with the various members of the team using the account won’t be able to keep up as we do so secondary to our day-to-day operations of manually reviewing accounts, investigating cheat reports, observing matches, and address appeals. We’ve enjoyed being able to weigh in and reply to posts and direct messages directly. However, please remember that these social interactions are not replacements for our official support systems, and ask players to still use our official appeals and reporting features to ensure their concerns are formally tracked and redressed. In-game reporting still kicks off a lot of extra systems and telemetry that make our investigations significantly more effective. The Road AheadFair-play matters, and we have lots of hammers still in the forge, hot and are looking forward to sharing more details just as soon as they are tempered and ready to strike.Stay sharp out there, soldier. I’ll see you on the Battlefield,BF_SledgeHammer
